Much Awaited Maruti Suzuki FRONX Launched in India: Top 5 Things About the Crossover

Out of all the futuristic and high-technology embedded cars showcased by Maruti Suzuki at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Fronx in particular is unarguably the most important launch of the year. It has been launched with prices starting from Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom) which goes up to Rs 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The model is available in 5 trims – Alpha, Delta +, Zeta, Sigma, and Delta. With the new entrant in the SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki is trying to bolster their SUV line-up. The Fronx is positioned between the Baleno and the Grand Vitara, whereas it competes against the likes of the Nissan Magnite, and the Renault Kiger. Here are the top five interesting facts about Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

Advanced Next-Gen Boosterjet Engine

Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with two engine options; 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The turbo petrol engine has been dubbed the Boosterjet as it comes with high power 3-cylinder architecture with a turbocharger. The former powertrain option has the capacity to generate a power output of 89 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. While the latter one can churn out 100 bhp and 147 Nm of maximum torque. The 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine has made a comeback with 5-speed MT and 6-speed AT, while 5-speed AMT comes with the naturally aspirated unit.

Loaded with Advanced Safety Features

When it comes to safety features, Maruti Suzuki has up their game by offering high-end safety features with its new crossover in the market. The car comes fitted with six airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Rear Parking Sensors, 3-point ELR Seat Belts, Electronic Stability Programme, Hill-Hold Assist, ABS with EBD, 360-degree Camera, and ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts. Moreover, Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) has been installed in the car which allows effective absorption and dispersion of the crash energy. High-tensile steel has also been used in several parts which makes the car’s body light yet strong and safe.

Futuristic Design (Exteriors and Interiors Features)

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with distinct design features but it is quite similar to the Baleno hatchback as it has the same Heartect platform with an identical wheelbase. However, Fronx is 5 mm longer, 20 mm wider, and 50 mm taller. It has a sleek and modern design that stands out on the road. The car's front grille and headlamps give it a bold look, while the sloping roofline and sharp creases on the sides add to its sporty appeal. It also comes with thick body cladding with faux skid plates, and high ground clearance combined with the elegant couple-like silhouette. The overall design is based on Nexa’s ‘crafted futurism’ design philosophy. In terms of interiors, the crossover comes loaded with class-leading features like LED multi-reflector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, shark fin antenna, automatic headlamps, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Many of these features resemble Baleno. These include a 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, Arkamys surround sound system, automatic climate control, head-up display with turn-by-turn navigation, wireless charger, Android Auto connectivity, and 360-degree view camera.

Impressive Mileage

Undoubtedly, Maruti Suzuki’s new crossover offers high fuel efficiency. It offers excellent mileage of 21.5 kmpl for the 1.0 MT, 21.79 kmpl for the 1.2 MT, 20.01 kmpl for the 1.0 AT and 22.89 kmpl for its 1.2 AMT unit. This clearly justifies that the Fronx is one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment and an ideal choice for those looking for an economical car.

Different Variants

Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes in 5 different variants – Alpha, Delta +, Zeta, Sigma, and Delta. As for the colours, Maruti Suzuki offers 10 different colours for its new crossover SUV. The single-tone colour option includes NEXA Blue (Celestial), Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Bluish Black. While the dual tones options include Earthen Brown with Bluish-Black Roof, Splendid Silver with Bluish-Black Roof, and Opulent Red with Black.
