New SUVs to be Launched by MG Motors India in 2023

MG Motors entered the Indian car market in 2019, and it has a lot going since then. 2023 is going to be an exciting year for the British marquee as they are expected to launch a number of new SUVs for the Indian consumer. This move comes as a part of their future product strategy to gain a bigger market share. The upcoming SUVs include the names of Hector/Hector Plus Facelifts, Baojun 510, Marvel X and RC-6. We in this article take a closer look at what they will have to offer to a new car buyer. 

 

2023 MG Hector / Hector Plus Facelifts

MG’s most populist SUVs, the Hector and Hector Plus are due for a facelift. And this year customers would see a change in their design and additions to the equipment list. Key upgrades on the MG Hector Facelift would include a reworked front end. It will feature a new large diamond mesh grill giving the four-wheeler an upmarket look. Bumpers both front and back will be refreshed. Its side profile will remain mainly similar to the current model but expect a new set of alloy wheels to be thrown into the package. The SUV’s tailgate would remain unchanged apart from the red strip that connects both lights. Talking about the interior, the vehicle is set to receive a new 14-inch infotainment system, all-digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera and ADAS tech.      

 

Mechanically Hector Facelift will remain unchanged, featuring the same 1.5-liter turbo-petrol and 2-litre diesel engines mated with a CVT, a DCT, and a 6-speed manual transmission. This upcoming MG SUV will directly lock horns with the Harrier, Creta and Seltos in its segment. Similar to the Hector Facelift, Hector Plus Facelift would also be getting the same changes to its exterior and interior.

Another MG SUV that will soon be available in India, is the Baojun. Expected to be launched towards the end of 2023, the MG Baojun will take on the likes of Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon in its segment. Design wise, it is inspired from the MG Hector so expect many elements to be visible on this upcoming vehicle from the SUV. Its compact dimensions are going to be the highlight of the four-wheeler. From the interior point of view, expect to see features like a 7-inch LED touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, dual airbags are more. 

As for the powertrain, the SUV is believed to feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that would produce a maximum power output of 104 bhp with 135 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty would be carried out by a CVT gearbox. The expected price of MG Baujon in India should be in upwards of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
