Upcoming Toyota Cars India 2023

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is planning for a big 2023 with a slew of new launches to expand its line-up. While it dominates the full-size SUV and MUV segments with the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta, it is looking to compete in other segments as well to gain a larger share of the Indian market. Today we take a look at the upcoming Toyota car launches in India.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Showcased at the end of November 2022, Toyota Innova Hycross in going to be the first car launch from the company in 2023. The all-new model features a host of new modern updates including a complete change of construction from a ladder-on-frame structure to a monocoque chassis with front wheel-drive layout. Compared to the current Innova Crysta, the Hycross has noticeably different styling with more SUV like design. The front end features a honeycomb grille flanked by wraparound LED headlights. The side profile is more sculpted with two feature lines that run the length of the vehicle and flared wheel arches. Moving to the rear, the Innova Hycross gets wraparound taillights joined together by a chrome strip.

The Innova Hycross’ interior gets an all-new design. There’s a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that sits atop the dashboard while the AC vents are placed just below it. Other features include a semi-digital instrument console, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, powered and ventilated front seats, and more.

Furthermore, this will be the first time that an Innova will not be offered with a diesel powertrain option. Instead, the company is has replaced the potent diesel with 2.0-litre petrol engine with strong hybrid tech. This technology will help the Innova gain some much-needed fuel efficiency numbers to put a strong show in the market.

Toyota will most likely launch the Innova Hycross at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota has already started taking bookings for the upcoming Land Cruiser LC300 in India. Globally launched in 2021, the LC300 was supposed to launch earlier but had to be delayed due to the global semi-conductor shortage. The new Land Cruiser still uses a ladder-frame-chassis as the earlier model but is based on the new GA-F platform. The new SUV is expected to be launched in the country by Q1 2023.

The new Land Cruiser features new design elements like a horizontally slatted chrome grille, slimmer LED headlamp and taillamp along with a new reprofiled bumper. However, it is the interior where the new changes are instantly apparent. There’s a new 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Apple Car Play and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, a 14-inch audio setup from JBL, tri-zone climate control, and more.

Mechanically, the Land Cruiser will be offered with a 3.3-litre turbodiesel unit that makes 305bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The system will come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4X4 system as standard.

Toyota Rumion

The Rumion is already on sale in the South African market. Like the Urban Cruiser and the Glanza, it is a rebadged Maruti, the Ertiga in this case. The new MPV will sit below the upcoming Innova Hycross. It is expected to launch around mid-2023.

To differentiate it from the Ertiga, the Rumion will get a few subtle changes like a new Toyota-specific grille and redesigned front air vents. On the inside the overall layout remains the same with a large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Apple Car Play and Android Auto, automatic climate control, connected car tech, a rear parking camera, and more, but get new all-black colour theme.

Powering the Toyota Rumion will be the same 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that does duty in the Maruti Ertiga. The car is rated for a maximum power output of 103 bhp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual and new 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Along with these models, we can also expect the company to launch the Belta sedan before the end of 2023.
