EVs
Budget is the most important criterion when buying a new
car. So if you are looking to buy a new car on a tight budget, then making the
right choice the first time is very important. To help you in this important
decision making process, we have put together a list of budget-friendly cars
expected to launch in 2022 and 2023.
1. Hyundai Creta Facelift
Update at the end 2020, the Hyundai Creta mid-size SUV is due
for another generation change soon. The car maker is expected to update the
four-wheeler’s exterior design to bring it in line with the current ‘Sensuous
Sportiness’ philosophy. Feature additions are expected to include the
introduction of ADAS tech, fully digital instrument cluster and an updated
infotainment unit. The enhancements to the SUV are expected to come at a
premium of around Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh over the existing model. Upcoming Creta
Facelift is expected to go on sale by mid 2023 and will continue with the
current crop of powertrain options.
2.
2023 Hyundai Verna
The new-gen Hyundai Verna has been spotted
multiple times doing test runs on Indian roads. The upcoming model is expected
to have a larger footprint along with subtle cosmetic and mechanical updates.
The current-gen Verna has been a value-for-money champ
and the we expect the same to hold true with the new-gen model. The current set
of powertrain options are expected to continue with the new model but with
mild-hybrid assistance in the interest of better fuel efficiency. When launched
the Hyundai Verna is expected to cost just under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
3.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Swift
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift will be an
evolution of the current-gen model. Expected to be priced around Rs 6 lakh
(ex-showroom), the new model will sport a heavily reworked front and rear
profile along with an updated safety equipment list. The car is expected to come
equipped with 6 airbags, ESP, HAS and more. While the Swift Sport is also in
works, we believe the brand will launch the standard model with mild-hybrid
option by the second half of 2023.
Once launched, the Tata Altorz EV is expected to be the
most budget-friendly electric vehicle in the Indian market. The first hatchback
EV in India will be priced around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a
value-for-money package. Designed to be identical to its ICE counterpart, the
EV will sport some special touches like a blanked-out front grille, blue
touches all over and an updated cabin layout. Tata Motors is expected to use a
40 kWh battery pack to drive the electric motor and offer a claimed range of
350-400 kilometre on a single charge.
5.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross
Internally codenamed YTB, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno based
Crossover SUV is in the works for a long time now and is expected to be
unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo with a market launch by the mid of 2023. The new
Baleno Cross SUV was recently spied testing in a full camouflaged avatar.
This new product will help the homegrown carmaker bridge the gap between Baleno
and Brezza and offer a unique proposition to its customers. Expected to be
priced around Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the car will measure slightly less
than 4 meters in length and will use the same powertrain as the Baleno. However,
rumour mill suggest that a new 1.0 litre 3-cylinder Booster-Jet engine is also
under consideration.
